  • Its classic design had underwent various iterations when the chair was introduced by André Bloc, the editor of L’Architecture d’Aujourd’hui, to his friend Charles Bernard (the name “AA” is a nod to the magazine).

Bernard, who founded AIRBORNE in 1951, perfected its design - one base, two wings and four sleeves – and manufacturing process. Since the release of the first AA chair in 1952, Airborne has been collaborating with the most talented designers and artisans, becoming a household name in the furniture industry. As of 2024, the AA chair is available in almost 60 different covers.
